Volatile Id is
Niles - bass
Omar - vocals, guitar
Matt - drums, guitar, vocals
After a long friendship, Niles and Omar formed Volatile Id in 1999. The creation of original music and the productive jam sessions are what caused the band to form. Throughout all the diverse and eclectic composing — whether it was the fierce squelching electric pieces, blistering vibrant melodic tunes, or long acoustic harmonized dissonant sounds — there was one thing that was evident in Volatile Id; the writing process was always fun and constantly altering as the song evolved. The musicianship was very natural and strong among the band members.

Volatile Id starting playing live shows in 2001 in the New York area with a different drummer. The band had over 25 original songs by 2001. Omar and Niles played several acoustic shows on their own in 2002 while still composing many new songs. In early 2003, a long time friend and musician joined the band completing the last component in Volatile Id, as well as adding a new artistic dimension to the group. Newer songs continue to exhibit the multitude of noise that is synonymous with the Id, as well as favorite songs that are still played with aggressive fervor. The band's diverse sound is reflected in the band's influences and personalities. "I guess we just like writing music. There is no formula to the way we write. I don't really think about it. It just happens. Omar or Matt might have a beat or sick riff and it starts. It's better not to think about stuff and just play," Niles had said in a band interview after a studio practice. "Music is music. We just feed off each other and there is a finished thing. It's pretty cool that everyone has different influences and it shows in what we play. I have a lot of System (referring to System of a Down) stuff coming out right now and Matt brings a variety of old 80's stuff and acoustic folk stuff that comes out," added Omar. "Yeah, that's one of the fun things about playing; no equation, just sporadic impulses," Matt had said

In response to what Volatile Id means, the band has different interpretations of what it stands for. "Just looking through the dictionary for words that might fit and sound like nothing else heard. There was not that much thought, but then we thought about it and it worked," Omar said. "I look at like the Id is one of the expressive parts of the mind in different thoughts and it's wavering. It's not constant or it's unstable with a bunch of results. That's sort of like our music," Niles added. The band members all live in Staten Island and are looking to go on tour and bring their music to a worldly venue near you..........
